The range

Everything a Llandudno window actually needs

No two elevations here take the weather the same way — a boulder-front lounge and a valley-facing bedroom want different things. Every product below is made to measure, per window; we confirm the rest at the free measure.

Roller shutters

External shading for exposed glazing, built to take the valley wind while it kills the glare.

Shading, not security. Our roller shutters are made for sun, heat and glare control on the outside of the glass. They are not security-rated shutters — that is a different product, which we can quote on request.

Dressed for how Llandudno actually lives

Glass-walled lounges built for the sunset, bedrooms that wake up to the swell, and decks that fill up every evening — this is what made-to-measure, salt-rated shading is for.

Why here

A valley with no streetlights and a wall of glass facing west

Llandudno has never had municipal street lighting — a long-held community choice that keeps the valley genuinely dark after sunset, which is exactly why the beach fills up every evening to watch the sun go down behind the boulders. It also means interior light control matters here in a way most suburbs never have to think about.

Most homes are terraced up the granite hillside facing that same sunset, which means the same wall of glass that draws people here every evening takes the full brunt of the afternoon sun. None of it is solved by a standard blind off a shelf, which is why every quote starts with an on-site measure, not a phone estimate.

No streetlights The valley stays properly dark after dark by community choice. Blackout options and considered window dressing matter here in a way glare control alone doesn’t cover.
Granite & swell The beach is defined by its huge granite boulders and a proper Atlantic break, so salt spray reaches front-facing homes straight off the swell. Powder-coated aluminium and sealed cassettes are our default, not the upgrade.
The valley funnel Hemmed in between the ridge toward Camps Bay and the pass down to Hout Bay, the valley channels the summer south-easter onto exposed decks. Exterior awnings and zip screens need a genuine wind rating.
West-facing by design Most homes are built to face the same sunset that draws people to the beach — which means the same glass takes the full afternoon sun. View-preserving sunscreen fabric is usually the right call over full blockout.

Questions

Before you enquire

Do you use salt-air rated hardware this close to the swell?

Yes — it’s standard here, not an upgrade. Powder-coated aluminium components and sealed cassettes on exterior products handle salt spray far better than untreated hardware. Even so, we’re honest that marine-spec fittings still benefit from an occasional fresh-water wipe-down this close to the break — we’ll cover that at the measure.

How do you cut glare without losing the sunset view?

Sunscreen roller fabric at 3–5% openness is usually the answer — it cuts glare and UV while keeping the outline of the view. Lower openness blocks more heat and glare but shows less through the fabric, so we help you weigh that trade-off room by room at the measure.

Are your awnings and zip screens rated for the valley wind?

We specify exterior products with a genuine wind rating, and a wind sensor for automatic retraction is the responsible spec on any exposed deck or terrace — an awning or screen caught open when the funnel picks up can be destroyed. We’ll flag exposed positions at the free measure.

Because there are no streetlights, do you offer proper blackout for bedrooms?

Yes — full blockout fabric or a double roller (sunscreen by day, blockout by night on one bracket) are both common choices here. With the valley going properly dark after sunset, most bedrooms want that option even if the lounge stays on sunscreen.

Can blinds be made child-safe?

Yes. Chain and cord tensioners anchoring the loop taut to the wall are standard on our installs, wand-tilt and cordless options are available for nurseries and kids’ rooms, and motorisation removes cords and chains entirely — ask about child-safe controls for any room.

How long does manufacturing and installation take?

Everything is made to order, so timing depends on the product and how much is on the order — your written quote will confirm the lead time for your specific job rather than a generic estimate.
